Dr Ian Main is a Nephrologist specialising in Renal Medicine, with extensive experience in both public and private healthcare settings.

He graduated with honours from Monash University in 1980 and trained as a renal physician in Brisbane and Melbourne, before gaining further clinical experience in the United Kingdom. Dr Main has been a consultant nephrologist at Monash Medical Centre since 1990 and continues in this role.

For over 25 years, he held consultant positions at Eastern Health, including serving as Head of a General Medical Unit and as an Intensive Care Physician. He continues to provide both general and renal medical care in a busy private practice at Knox Private Hospital.

His current clinical focus is on the diagnosis and management of patients with impaired kidney function, with a strong emphasis on the preservation of renal function and long-term patient outcomes.
