Dr Abha Kaul is a consultant gastroenterologist and hepatologist who manages all facets of general gastroenterology and hepatology, with a particular interest in the management of complex inflammatory bowel disease.

She is trained in performing bowel ultrasound and is a member of the International Bowel Ultrasound Group, reflecting her commitment to advanced diagnostic and non-invasive assessment techniques.

Dr Kaul completed her Basic Physician Training and Advanced Gastroenterology Training across multiple hospitals in Victoria and Queensland, providing her with a broad and diverse clinical background. She subsequently undertook advanced fellowship training in the management of complex inflammatory bowel disease at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, including specialist training in the management of inflammatory bowel disease in pregnancy.

Dr Kaul has published in international journals and authored a book chapter in the Oxford Handbook of Clinical Medicine. Currently employed with Peninsula Health, she leads the newly developed Inflammatory Bowel Disease Unit.

She is actively involved in medical education, teaching medical students and serving as an appointed educational supervisor for junior doctors. She regularly participates in national and international conferences to remain current with evolving clinical practice and has been invited to present at conferences by the Pharmacists’ Society of Australia on multiple occasions.
